Old Friend

Here we are again, Old Friend.
How long has it been
since last we shared a conversation?
Come, take a seat with me.
Let me pour you some wine
as you tell me of the journey so far.

What wonders, challenges and troubles
have you encountered?
Leave no detail unspoken, Old Friend.
I wish to hear it all. By chance,
have you thought of me along the way?
Many times, I’ve thought of you.
And dearly, I've missed you too.

Oh it’s good to share these rarest of
moments with you. Tell me,
have you found, made and lost love?
Recount all your hardships to me.
I am only sorry, I wasn’t there to
support you in your hour of need.

But for all those regrets, I won't be saddened.
We have this precious occasion
to add to our collection. So for now,
my heart is glad. How good it is to be with you,
my dear Old Friend. I shall treasure this memory
with fondness and warm regard.

Let us toast to the night now, you and I.
We shall savour every minute!
